It’s happening every where you look.
Those little rorschachs on the back of your Campbell’s Soup can will be packing a whole lot more information than $2.99 and to a whole lot more people than just your Whole Foods cashier.
You’ll be able to scan the bar code and read about the carbon footprint of that can, the company’s values, nutritional information, comparison pricing, coupons, etc.
All of which sounds awesome but the more I read about Augmented Reality the more I wonder about the bar code’s shelf life. Design and platform functionality that evolves faster than the human mind have proven to be key characteristics of sustaining technology, a la the iPod.
